Blog1-Culture shock
Dining and tableware
At last week, my aunt took me to a traditional lunch in an American restaurant. The first course is bread and olive oil, which is very delicious.😊 I like crispy bread very much. 💗
At this time, the waiter brought tableware, a fork, another fork and a knife. I feel very strange, two forks?
When I was in China, I also learned something about American culture. I knew that they ate with knives and forks, but two forks made me feel strange. 😥Did the waiter take it wrong? Should it be a fork, a spoon and a knife? 💧
I asked my aunt I want to change one fork into a spoon. She told me that in America, one fork is used to eat salad and the other fork is used to eat main course. 💦💦💦
The fork that eats salad will be taken away after eating salad. This is when I feel the culture shock.💥💥 These two forks make me understand that culture is like an iceberg, as if I only know that eating with a knife and fork in American culture is the part on the water.
The underwater part of the iceberg is about using different forks for salad and main course.
💖Also, eating in America is very relaxing. No one will laugh at you for taking pictures of a baby duck, and the waitress will even give your duckling advice! )
